Simulation and Formulation of Output Performance of 1310-nm-Wavelength Tapered Fiber Optical Sensor

The simulation profile of the output performance of a 1310-nm-wavelength tapered fiber optical sensor was obtained and each coefficient in the formula of the output performance was also determined. We found that the output performance in our study can be used to fit the modified Rician distribution function. At a small taper tilt angle, the output performance was used to fit the Rayleigh distribution function. At a large taper tilt angle, the output performance was used to fit the Gaussian distribution function. These techniques were applied to a photonic sensor, which provided the most useful and efficient way for computer simulation. Therefore, we could precisely and effectively conduct experiments on all the measured received power performance characteristics varied by the measured distance with any tilt-angle input fibers. This could avoid errors in duplication or mass production, and even in further study, which utilizes a photonic sensor, a fluorescence probe, or arranged multiheads for multipurpose measurement.
