福祉施設および大型ショッピングセンターにおける移動•検索方法からみた視覚障害者のトィレ利用実態

2014年10月現在、日本の65歳以上の人口は3,300万人であり、高齢化率は26.0%となった。高齢化の進行は加齢による身体機能の低下から起因する身体不自由者の増加も予測できる。日本眼科医会の発表によると、2007年現在、日本の視覚障害者は164万人であり、内、失明者は18万8千人いると推定されている。そして視覚障害者の72%が60歳以上であり、高齢者の割合が高い。また、視覚障害となる原因疾患の42%は、緑内障、加齢黄斑変性、白内障と、加齢に伴い発症リスクの高いものである。この現状から、視覚障害者数は2030年には200万人に達すると推定されている。%This study targets "welfare facilities" and "large shopping centers" used by the visually impaired and focuses on methods of "maneuvering to and searching for" concerning restroom environments for each facility. The results of analysis confirmed the following points. 1. Half of the respondents could not read braille even though they had received training. 2. Regarding the method of maneuvering to a restroom within welfare facilities and large shopping centers, over half of the respondents had a companion guide them. This is particularly prominent in large shopping centers. 3. Large shopping centers also add the additional conditions of large restroom interiors, multiple restroom booths, and confusion. As such, over half of large shopping center visitors rely on guidance from a companion all the way up to an open restroom booth. 4. On the other hand, for welfare facility users, even people who rely on companions to guide them up to the restroom will look for open restroom booths on their own.
