CVN 78 integrated combat system completes final developmental test

The Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Integrated Combat System for the US Navy's (USN's) aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford (CVN 78) has completed its final developmental testing, SSDS contractor Raytheon confirmed on 4 June. The testing, which was conducted from the USN's unmanned Self Defense Test Ship off the coast of California, saw the SSDS locate, classify, track, and engage two anti-ship missile surrogate targets during a simulated attack on the ship, Raytheon said.
