摘要

On 12 April Indonesia's Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a USD 1 billion contract with South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) for a second batch of three Type 209/1400 diesel-electric submarines (SSKs). The contract follows an initial order for three Type 209/1400s, called the Nagapasa class in Indonesian service, which were procured through a USD 1.1 billion contract awarded to DSME in December 2011. Two submarines under the earlier contract, KRI Nagapasa (403) and KRI Ardadedali (404), have already been commissioned by the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL), while a third, Alugoro (405), was launched at PT PAL's premises in Surabaya on 11 April.
