Dearsan accelerates procurement schedule for Turkish patrol vessels

Dearsan Shipyard is planning to launch the first of 16 New Type Patrol Boats for the Turkish Coast Guard in December 2009 or January 2010, up to six months earlier than stipulated in the procurement contract.rnThe Istanbul-based company says the schedule will allow it to undertake initial sea trials before delivering the 56 m patrol vessel - pennant number P1200 - to the country's Naval Forces Command.rnIt has also emerged that each ship will be fitted with Aselsan's Anti-Submarine Rocket Launching System (ASRLS), in addition to the Oto Melara twin 40 mm L70 Compact gun mount and two remote-controlled 12.7 mm stabilised machine guns with IR imaging previously reported.
