Piranha pioneers carbon nanotube technology

Composites specialist Zyvex Technologies is building a super-lightweight 54 ft interceptor-type boat using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for military unmanned surface vessel (USV) trials on behalf of an unidentified government. The highly fuel-efficient Piranha craft will be delivered in mid-2011 to a commercial operator who intends to use it for USV test and evaluation work, Zyvex president Lance Criscuolo told Jane's on 12 April.
