On 24 June 2013, five senior Somali Federal Government (SFG) figures and three European Union (EU) officials boarded German and Portuguese Lynx naval helicopters at Mogadishu International Airport for a short flight to the Portuguese Vasco da Gama-class frigate NRP Alvares Cabral, flagship of EU Naval Force (NAVFOR) Somalia, stationed five miles offshore.
