Multiple Kill Vehicle payload hits objectives in hover test

A test of the Lockheed Martin-developed Multiple Kill Vehicle-L (MKV-L) was conducted at the US National Hover Test Facility at Edwards Air Force Base in California on 2 December, writes D.oug Richardson.rnDuring the test, the MKV-L payload hovered under its own power for 20 seconds at a height of approximately 7 m and demonstrated manoeuvrability while tracking a surrogate target. It also transmitted video and flight telemetry to the ground.rnAt the conclusion of the test, the propulsion system was deactivated and the unit dropped into a recovery net.rnEarly analysis of test data indicated that all planned test objectives had been achieved.
