Singapore fires Barak I during international 'CARAT' exercise in South China Sea

The Republic Of Singapore Navy's (RSN's) Victory-class upgraded missile corvette RSS Valiant (P91) successfully used its IAI/Rafael Barak I surface-to-air missile system to engage a target drone on 23 August. After leaving one of the aft-mounted vertical launchers on RSS Valiant, the Barak missile flies a turnover manoeuvre in the direction of its target. The firing was conducted in the South China Sea as part of the annual 'Co-operation Afloat Readiness and Training' ('CARAT 2011') bilateral exercise between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the United States Navy (USN) held from 15 to 29 August.
