Russia expects to resume White Sea flight-tests of Bulava missile in June

The next test launch of Russia's sea-based Bulava ballistic missile will be carried out as soon as the ice in the area of the White Sea used for submarine-launched ballistic missile trials has thawed. The launch will probably take place in June, Yury Solomonov, general designer at the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology, told Russia's Novosti news agency on 17 March. He said the launch would be conducted from either the trials submarine Dmitry Donskoi, or from Yury Dolgoruky, lead boat of the Borey-class of submarines designed to carry the new missile.
