As armed forces pivot attention towards engaging high-capability, peer adversaries, the international special operations forces (SOF) community is working to keep pace with continued or increasing demand for counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency campaigns.The world's largest SOF organisation - US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) - is seeking to manage resources to engage with peer adversaries as outlined in the 2018 National Defense Strategy (NDS), which focused on the so-called Great Power Competition, specifically mission sets addressing Russia and China.
