Denel Dynamics targets enhanced artillery accuracy

South Africa's Denel Dynamics has revealed it is developing a precision artillery fuze for counter-insurgency operations. The AcuFuze is being developed by the company in association with UTC Aerospace Systems in the UK using internal research and development funding. It can be used with all 155 mm artillery projectiles fitted with the standard fuze well in the nose. Denel Dynamics will contribute guidance and control technologies while UTC Aerospace Systems will provide inertial sensor technologies. Other contractors will be involved with the safe-and-arm mechanism, booster, and detonator.
