USAF looks to secure aircraft systems from cyber attack

The US Air Force (USAF) is moving to enhance the security of aircraft systems in the cyber domain, issuing a broad agency announcement under its Avionics Vulnerability Assessment Mitigation and Protection (AVAMP) programme. The focus of the announcement is to "explore new and emerging concepts related to development, integration, assessment, evaluation, and demonstration of embedded system cyber security technologies". The security of on-board technology is becoming a priority as connected, software-enabled, and embedded systems used in avionics become a target for advanced persistent threats (APTs) and other vulnerabilities.
