DOJ indicts North Korean programmer for cyber attack on Sony, Bangladesh Bank theft, and WannaCry 2.0

The US government has used a legal complaint to publicise detailed information about North Korea's activities in cyberspace, as part of an apparent trend towards open attribution. On 6 September the US Department of Justice (DOJ) charged North Korean computer programmer Park Jin-hyok with computer fraud and wire fraud in a criminal complaint that provided a detailed analysis of North Korean hacking activity since 2014. On the same day, the US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on Park and on his employer, Chosun Expo Joint Venture.
