摘要

Chinese vice-premier wang Yang On 24 September called for the resumption of ministerial-level economic dialogue between China and Japan during a meeting with a major Japanese business delegation in Beijing. Such dialogues had been suspended since September 2010, following the detention of a Chinese fishing boat captain by the Japanese Coast Guard in waters around the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea.Also on 24 September, China and Japan concluded two days of high-level discussions on maritime issues in Qingdao, agreeing to resume military liaison. They also agreed on further talks to be held within the next three to six months. The last high-level maritime dialogue took place in May 2012, before being suspended amid Senkaku/Diaoyu tensions.
