The US intelligence community has identified Russia and China as the greatest counter-intelligence threats to the country's global interests in 2016. This judgement was made in the annual Worldwide Threat Assessment published in February. Russia and China were also described as posing a significant cyber-security threat to the US, alongside Iran and North Korea. Overall, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) stated that "the United States will continue to face a complex foreign intelligence threat environment in 2016". It considered that the leading state intelligence threats to US interests will remain Russia and China, "based on their capabilities, intent and broad operational scope".
