President picks businessman to lead Argentina's intelligence office

Mauricio Macri, then Argentina's president-elect, named Gustavo Arribas as the new head of the country's Federal Intelligence Agency (Agencia de Inteligencia Federal: AFI) on 3 December. Arribas replaces Oscar Parrilli, who was closely linked to the former head of state Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. Arribas does not have a background in intelligence; rather, he is a businessman who has worked with Macri over many years, in particular during the latter's time as president of the Club Atletico Boca Juniors football club from 1996-2007, according to a statement released by Macri's Cam-biemos coalition and cited by the EFE news agency.
