Miami International Airport (MIA), which is operated by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, claims to be the largest US gateway for Latin America and the Caribbean and is a major hub for American Airlines. It is also one of the busiest international passenger and freight airports in the world, with MIA ranking second in the US for international traffic behind New York JFK and first in the country for international cargo.
