IATA eyes shared global standards for cargo safety and security

IATA is to become more proactive in promoting air cargo safety and security as part of a high-profile and more collaborative approach, senior officials from the airline organisation said on 14 March. A key enabler for IATA is the Secure Freight initiative, which evaluates a country's aviation security infrastructure and works with civil aviation authorities (CAAs) to ensure cargo is kept sterile - by ensuring it is from either a known consignor or a regulated agent -until it is loaded.
