Fostering regional cooperation in standards and metrology

UNIDO (United Nations Indus-trial Development Organiza-tion)" is a specialized United Nations agency that mobilizes knowledge, skills, information and technology to promote productive employment, a competitive economy and a sound environment, and it focuses its efforts on relieving poverty by fostering productivity growth. Since its inception, it has been a leading provider of technical assistance and capacity-building for developing countries in the field of standards, metrology, testing and quality (SMTQ). Most of the standards bodies and related institutions of developing countries have benefited from UNIDO's expertise over the past 40 years, through micro- and large-scale projects, training, research and information.
