ISO 27th General Assembly: ISO traces a five-year roadmap to globally relevant standards

Some 370 delegates from 113 countries attended the 27th ISO General Assembly from 14 to 16 September 2004, held in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition to its delegates, the General Assembly brought together high-level officials from United Nations organizations, Swiss authorities and interested stakeholders to hear more about a five-year road-map to ensure the viability, strategic positioning and success of the organization for the course ahead. As the "home" of the ISO family, gathering in Geneva proved its usefulness not only to make a review of the complete range of activities of the organization but also for delegates to interact with the staff of the ISO Central Secretariat, and take the pulse of the organization. Additionally, it came as ISO is adopting its ambitious strategy for the next five years and an Action Plan for developing countries, and it was an ideal moment for the stakeholders to be together to discuss and thrash out the core issues of the road ahead -the road that leads to global strategies and global relevance.
