Create Realtime Web Reports with RPG

In "Do-It-Yourself Web Reports" (November 2011, ID 66223 at systeminetwork.com), I showed how to create static HTML files from spooled files. You may recall that we then copied the HTML files to the IFS and rendered them in a browser. Additionally, I described a process using data queues that could automatically harvest reports from an output queue for conversion to HTML files. We could do all this with no RPG or other high-level language coding. That technique is well suited for creating web pages from reports that are produced through an overnight or regularly scheduled process. But what about running reports in realtime in the browser? As with static HTML reports, creating realtime web reports is relatively straightforward.
