Nucor Steel-Utah: A bar mill products supplier to the West Coast

Nucor Steel-Utah is a major supplier of merchant bar mill products to the growing markets in the western U.S. and Canada. A wide range of products are rolled for the fabrication and construction industries that include angles, channels, flat bars, hot rolled rounds and squares, and rebar sizes. Plant facilities include two 60-ton electric arc furnaces, a 4-strand continuous billet caster and two rolling mills together with finishing lines. Major expansions have occurred since the plant started up in 1981 that have increased production from 400,000 to the current level of 780,000 tons: potential casting and rolling capabilities are estimated to be well in excess of 1 million tons following an increase in melting capacity.
