A second record of Renocera stroblii Hendel (Diptera: Sciomyzidae) in Ireland with a key to the Irish species of the genus

The most recent, comprehensive list of marsh flies (Sciomyzidae) recorded from Ireland was published by McLean (1998) documenting a total of 51 species. The recent addition of Colobaea distincta (Meigen) to the Irish list by Ryder et al. (2003) now brings this total to 52. However, the distribution of marsh fly species is still relatively poorly recorded throughout the country. A prime example is Renocera stroblii Hendel which, to date, has been recorded in Ireland only by Speight and Lavery (1992). The individual, a male, was captured in Cratloe Forest Park, Co Clare on 3 August 1990. No subsequent records, to the best of our knowledge, have been recorded since then.
