Before the era of technology, edge banding was a labour-intensive process which required the use of ordinary wood working tools. As time progressed, the demand for furniture increased which put manual edge banding at a disadvantage because it would not be able to keep up with the supply, let alone keep up. When Biesse was established 50 years ago, one of the focus areas for the manufacturer was to investment in services and technology designed to help develop digital factories. The investment paid off because the Italian manufacturer was able to create a name for itself in the edge banding industry. This meant that they would be able to capitalise on the demand for furniture and other wood products that required edge banding.
