Occasionally, and usually buried deep in the print media or as part of a bulletin on TV or radio, the Yemen features. Other events drive mention of the war in that part of the world off the front pages. The latest newsworthy incidents involving the Yemen at the time of writing (not generally reported in Western media) included the meeting of Yemeni delegates with the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths and his team. Earlier we heard on Al Jazeera of Yemeni children killed in a Saudi-UAE air strike. Almost simultaneously, news was coming in of the Yemen army supported by 'popular forces' inflicting heavy losses on the Saudi army and the US-backed Saudi-led coalition militiamen. While the Saudi-UAE coalition announced gains in the battle for Hodeidah, which has led to the UN announcing that five million children are at risk from famine in the Yemen. The coalition spokesman countered at a press conference that: "All Yemeni relief outlets and ports are fully operational".
