There were plenty of VIPs attending the annual general meeting of the Italian shipowners' confederation (Confederazione Italiana Armatori, Confitarma) in Rome recently. Many a government representative made their way to the auditorium of the Tecnica Confindustria congress centre in Rome's Viale Umberto Turpini, including prime minister Giuseppe Conte, transport minister Paola De Micheli and environment minister Sergio Costa. The international significance and dimension of the meeting was underlined by the presence of Albanian prime minister Edi Rama, who also took the opportunity to address the more than 800 participants from the shipping industry, associations and companies.
