King Harald of Norway and King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden ceremonially inaugurated the newly-built Svinesund bridge over the Idefjord in the south of the two neighbouring states with a symbolic handshake recently. The bridge, around 90 m high and 28 m wide, is a joint venture between the Norwegian and Swedish road construction authorities, and part of a 6.5 km stretch of the E6 motorway between Oslo (Norway) and Gothenburg (Sweden).
