Armas doubles Portimao-Funchal services

Three months ago, the Spanish shipping line Armas launched a new ro-ro service between Portimao, on the Portuguese mainland, Funchal, on the Spanish Atlantic island of Madeira, and Spain's Canary Islands, also in the Atlantic. Armas initially offered one sailing a week. Now the line has announced that a second ferry will be deployed, on account of unexpectedly strong demand, and the sailing frequency thus doubled. The new ferry is already under construction in Vigo and is expected to enter operations in May 2009.
