Bernd Hoffmann receives German Order of Merit

Bernd Hoffmann has been awarded the Order ofMerit of the Federal Republic of Germany by the nation's president Christian Wulff. The announcement said that Hoffmann was honoured for his «sterling work for institutions that seek to encourage and promote youths.» Hoffmann lives in Altenberge with his family and has been a member of the supervisory board of Schmitz Cargobull since 2009. He joined Schmitz Anhanger GmbH & Co KG, as the firm was then called, as a marketing manager in 1974. He was a member of the corporation's board from 1998 onwards and from 2003 to 2008 he was the chairman of Schmitz Cargobull, which says it is the largest manufacturer of lorry trailers in Europe.
