Rotor blades on the move

Ship and trailer are still the ideal means of transport for heavylift cargo - but there is another way too. In September Geodis Wilson transported a shipment of wind turbine rotor blades by rail for the Danish company Vestas Wind Systems, the world's largest wind-turbine manufacturer, thereby breaking new ground. For the first time in Europe, according to SNCF Geodis, 55 m long rotor blades were transported by rail from Germany to Denmark, thereby reducing transport times, costs and CO_2 emissions.
