American Airlines (AA), which is pleased with its results for 2014, set the course for the future development of the corporation at the end of January. A particularly strong fourth quarter saw net profits (excluding net special charges of USD 1.1 billion) rise by 153% vis-a-vis the like-for-like period in 2013. The AMR Corporation's GAAP net profit came to USD 2.9 billion, compared to a full-year GAAP net loss of USD 1.8 billion in 2013. This figure only includes the results for US Airways from 9 to 31 December 2013. The firm's cargo business generated operating revenues of USD 875 million, or 5.4% more than in the previous year.
