摘要

The catenary effect determines that overhead transmission lines are non-uniform structures. Most often this ef- fect is assumed to be negligible and the problem is circumvented by simply assigning a constant average height to each line conductor. In order to assess the adequacy of this standard procedure different transmission-line sections with different sag values have been dealt with, from a modal analysis viewpoint. Each line section has been discretized into a large number of uniform elemental cells; the chain transfer matix has been computed and the modal characteristics of the structure determined.
