EU cane sugar refiners go to court over sugar regime reforms

Tate & Lyle Sugars (T&L) and Sidul Acucares Unipessoal took the European Commission to court on 17th January, alleging it has mismanaged the EU sugar regime. The two cane sugar refiners appeared before the General Court of the European Union to put their claim that they have been put at a competitive disadvantage by the Commission's "mismanagement" of Europe's sugar market and deserve 'justice' under the terms of the Lisbon Treaty.
