USA - Cargill and Helm partner to build US$300 million commercial-scale biobased BDO plant

The agribusiness giant Cargill and chemicals marketer Helm have formed a new joint venture, Qore, to build a commercial-scale biobased 1,4-butanediol (BDO) plant that would save up to 93% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared with current production technologies.Qore has licensed Genomatica's biobased BDOprocess technology for the proposed plant that will be located at Cargill's existing biotechnology facilities in Eddyville, Iowa, USA.
