Vietnam-Government imposes duties on raw and refined sugar from Thailand

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has decided to levy a temporary anti-dumping tax of 44.88% on raw sugar and 33.88% on refined sugar imported from Thailand.The measure was introduced to support the domestic sugar industry which has been undermined by a surge in imports from Thailand.These duties will be reviewed regularly to ensure a fair, competitive environment.The decision comes after the Ministry of Trade in September initiated an anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation for imported sugar from Thailand on the basis of the documents requested by the Vietnam Sugar and Sugarcane Association (VSSA) and domestic sugar producers.
