UK to allow imports of 260,0001 raw sugar duty-free

The government announced on 16th December that it is to allow 260,000 tonnes of raw sugar to be imported tariff-free in 2021, as it develops an independent trade policy for the first time in nearly 50 years.The tariff-free quota will be implemented regardless of the outcome of the UK's trade negotiations with the European Union. It represents more than half of the UK's raw sugar imports which total about 400,000 tonnes annually.
