Influence of the Incorporation of Cement Kiln Dust on the Properties of Cement- Performance and Durability

摘要

The possibility of recycling the dust of the cement factory kiln in the fabrication of the Portland cement, gives many advantages; on one hand, it decreases air pollution or environmental protection and on the other hand decreases the manufacturing blow of the cement. In this perspective this paper presents the development of composite cement based on this waste locally available in the cement factory of Algeria. In this study the kiln dust of the cement factory of Hadjar-Soud in the East of Algeria is valorized as an addition in the cement with the main axes focused on the formulation and the characterization of the materials used, the comparison of the behavior of cement-based addition with 5, 10, 15 and 20% rates by reference samples without addition (0%), studying their effects on cement pastes (water demand, setting time and stability) as well as their mechanical performance (compressive and flexural strength), dimensional variation and durability in the different environments studied (acid and base attack, chloride attack) on mortars. The results obtained show that the incorporation of 15% of cement kiln dust in the cement gives a product with long-term mechanical and durability performance with ecological and economic advantages.
