San Jose to invite metro bids

The government of Costa Rica says it expects to invite bids this month for the construction of the first metro line in the capital San Jose.rnThe $US 345 million project involves the construction of a 10.1km, nine-station line from Atlantico in the city centre to the hospital in Heredia.rnA $US 100 million loan from the Inter AmericanrnDevelopment Bank will be used to fund part of the project, although it is unclear how the government intends to fund the remainder of the project. Nonetheless, six consortia are expected to bid for the contract to build the line, which will open in 2015.
