Russian high-speed line 'will not be ready for World Cup'

Russia will not deliver a new high-speed line between Moscow and St Petersburg in time for the 2018 Fifa World Cup, according to Russian Railways (RZD) president Mr Vladimir Yakunin. Speaking at InnoTrans on September 18, Yakunin said that given the time it is taking the Russian government to establish a funding structure for the proposed Moscow -St Petersburg high-speed line, the objective set out by RZD to complete the project by 2018 will not be met.
