Making ROVs work for the 21st century

UK-based Soil Machine Dynamics Ltd (SMD) has long been associated with the heavier end of the remotely operated vehicle market. Design and manufacture of ploughs, trenchers and ROV systems for pipeline/cable burial has been its staple business for many years. In the early part of this decade, SMD was looking to expand into other areas of business which could benefit from its remotely operated vehicle expertise. The obvious choice was work-class ROV systems which utilise many technologies SMD had pioneered in other industries.
