SSN 774 Virginia Class. General Dynamics Electric Boat is the lead design yard for the Virginia class, and is responsible for construction of the engine room modules, command and control modules, and seven other sections of the ship. The sail, the living quarters of the ship, the auxiliary machinery room modules, and six other sections are designed and built by Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding. The shipyards alternate final assembly and delivery of the submarines, with Electric Boat delivering even-numbered subs and Newport News delivering odd-numbered subs.
