摘要

A Next-Generation Network (NGN) is a future packet-based network being developed by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The NGN architecture allows service-related functions to be independent of the underlying transport-related technologies. The interest is to utilize each network within its respective area of strength with the aim of attaining generalized user mobility. In particular, terrestrial wireless and satellite-based networks could all contribute to NGN in terms of hybrid/integrated networks, providing ubiquitous and universal broadband IP-based services to mobile users.
