Dans cet article, l'auteur étudie certaines des différentes définitions, de ce que sont un fait et une formulation, au sein des perspectives psychanalytiques contemporaines. La manière selon laquelle un fait n'est jamais libre de théorie représente un lien commun que l'on retrouve tout au long des diverses définitions d'un fait. L'auteur s'efforce de comparer et de contraster les façons selon lesquelles un fait et une formulation sont conceptuellement liés à la théorie. Il soul╚╲e les problèmes se rapportant aux limites qui nous permettent de proclamer un statut d'évidence des propositions contre voir les formulations comme des illustrations utiles de notre travail. Ce que cet article contient d'implicite, c'est la tension présente qu'il existe dans la théorie psychanalytique en tant que théorie de motivation et en tant que signification.%In this paper the author examines some of the varieties of definitions of fact and formulation within contemporary psychoanalytic perspectives. A common thread running throughout various definitions of fact is the way in which fact is never theory-free. An attempt is made to compare and contrast the ways in which fact and formulation are contextually bound to theory. Questions are raised about the extent to which we can claim evidential status of propositions versus viewing formulations as useful illustrations of our work. Implicit in this paper is the current tension in psychoanalytic theory between psychoanalysis as a theory of motivation and meaning.
