From Vehicle / Surface Interaction to Quiet Surface Dressings

摘要

This paper considers how the interaction of a tyre and an asphalt surfacing may be investigated in the laboratory to assess the holistic interaction of a wide range of factors. It summaries existing research and explores the implications of new areas being developed to better relate real-life performance with laboratory based prediction. No conclusions are offered. Rather, the paper aims to stimulate thinking and suggest ways to improve understanding of how asphalt surfacing materials perform.
