摘要

A new approximate analysis for the performance of wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical networks employing time division multiple access (TDMA) under asymmetric traffic load distributions is presented. The results of the analysis are verified with computer simulation. As anticipated, characteristics for the mean delay and backlog versus traffic throughput show that the network performance is highly sensitive to asymmetric traffic loads. The distribution of the mean delay and backlog across the network with various levels of asymmetry is also investigated.
