Cyber-Physical Planning Support Systems: Advancing Participatory Decision Making in Complex Urban Environments

摘要

Technologies are emerging that can transform urban planning from a slow and costly, paper driven, black box process to a transparent and democratized way of delivering information relevant to making policy decisions. In this paper we use our experiences and lessons learned from the development and application of a large-scale urban model to argue that advances in computational techniques allow greater interactivity, speed, versatility, and accessibility that enable the next generation of planning support systems to be developed and operationalized. We then describe such a system.
