Self-regulated thermal processes during quenching of steels in liquid media

摘要

The paper describes regularities of a non-stationary nucleate boiling process during quenching of steels in a liquid media. A generalised correlation for the calculation of the nucleate boiling process duration is obtained. A definition of a self-regulated thermal process that takes place during quenching is introduced. During the self-regulated thermal process, the surface temperature of the part is close to the quenchant boiling temperature for a relatively long period of time. It is possible to shift the quenchant boiling temperature relative to the martensite start temperature M_S. This is an effective way of controlling the martensitic transformation. The results of calculations using the obtained correlations agree very well with the experimental data. The obtained generalised correlations are used: 1. for the development of new intensive steel quenching processes; 2. for the quenching process automation; 3. for improving of the environment in heat-treating industry.
