摘要

The challenge to the design and manufacture of new and advanced materials, capable of functioning at higher stresses, higher temperatures and in more aggressive environments, has taken centre stage for materials scientists and engineers. The need to reach and expand current functional limits, subject to economic constraints, continues. Unique property requirements demand that these new materials be produced using unusual and innovative methods.
