This issue is a particularly varied one. In addition to the normal content, we publish one of the two Finalists entries from last year's IJMR New Research Writer award, plus no less than four Conference Notes from last December's Social Research Association's annual conference. One of these, by Bob Erens, provides further evidence from Natsal-3 of why web surveys of the general population do not provide robust methodological solutions for major public sector research projects, echoing the conclusions from the RSS symposium held last June (see my Editorial in Vol. 56 Issue 4). Although some argue that the present UK government demonstrates little interest in supporting policies with evidence, anyway (see Zoe Williams, 'The strange world of evidence-free government', The Guardian, 9 February, 2015). Two of the other notes describe innovative research harnessing the opportunities available from mobile technologies.
